Terms and conditions
Draft – will be completed and legally reviewed before publication.
§ 1 Scope and provider
These terms apply to all contracts for the use of Etappe7 between [RobotBytes – Rechtsform], [Straße und Hausnummer], [PLZ Ort] (“we”) and consumers (“you”).
Other terms only apply if we expressly agree to them.
§ 2 Services
Etappe7 is a vocabulary trainer web app for school children and their families. It includes a parent account, learner profiles for children, vocabulary practice in seven stages, games, a pet or figure, friendships with parental consent and the parent view.
You create courses yourself by taking photos of word lists in your own textbooks. Text recognition runs on your device. We only offer ready-made courses from publishers if we hold licences for them.
We keep developing Etappe7. Features may change as long as the core – learning your own courses with progress, the parent view and offline use – remains. We aim for high availability and schedule maintenance outside usual learning times where possible.
§ 3 Conclusion of contract and account
Only adults can create an account. Children use Etappe7 through the learner profiles a parent creates in their account; the parent is the contracting party.
Registration starts the free trial (§ 4). A paid contract is only concluded when you choose a plan and click “Order with obligation to pay”. We confirm the contract by email and send you these terms and the cancellation policy.
Keep your login details secret. Each learner profile has its own password.
§ 4 Free trial
After registering, you can use Etappe7 free of charge for 14 days without providing payment details. The trial ends automatically; there are no costs and nothing renews.
§ 5 Plans and prices
Solo: €12 per school year – one parent account, 1 child. Duo: €18 per school year – one parent account, 2 children. Quartet: €24 per school year – one parent account, up to 4 children. Ensemble (on request): €30 per school year – one parent account, 5 or more children. Each child has 1 course included; each additional course costs €5 per school year.
For these terms, a school year runs from 1 August to 31 July. If you conclude the contract during a school year, you pay for the first school year only pro rata for the months started until 31 July.
All prices are final prices including statutory VAT.
§ 6 Payment
The price for a school year is payable in advance on purchase. Payment is made via the payment service offered when ordering. You receive the invoice by email.
If you switch to a larger plan or add a course during a school year, you only pay the difference pro rata for the remaining months.
§ 7 Term and renewal
The contract applies to the school year in which it is concluded and ends automatically on 31 July without you having to cancel. It does not renew.
If you wish, you conclude a new contract for the next school year. We remind you by email at least 4 weeks before 1 August; with a saved payment method, one click is enough. You can book the next school year in advance; it starts on 1 August.
Early ordinary termination is not provided for; fees already paid are not refunded pro rata. Your right of withdrawal and the right of both parties to terminate for good cause remain unaffected – the “Cancel contracts here” button is available for this.
§ 8 End of access, retention and export
Without a valid contract (after the trial or after the contract ends), learning is no longer possible. We keep your data – progress, history, own courses – for 12 more months so you can pick up seamlessly, and delete it afterwards.
You can download all your family’s data at any time, even without a valid contract, in your parent account in a common, machine-readable format. On request we delete it immediately.
§ 9 Discontinuation of Etappe7
We may discontinue Etappe7 as a whole, but only at the end of a school year (31 July). We announce this by email at least 3 months in advance; all contracts then end on that 31 July.
We refund in full any fees paid in advance for the time after that. We provide all your family’s data for download in a common, machine-readable format – for at least 3 months after discontinuation.
§ 10 Your obligations
Only photograph word lists from books your family uses lawfully, and only for your own private use. Courses must not be passed on to people outside your family or published.
Etappe7 must not be misused, for example through automated access, circumventing protective measures or harassing other learners.
You are responsible for how your children use Etappe7. Friendships with children of other families only come about with your consent.
§ 11 Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health and under the Product Liability Act.
In cases of slight negligence, we are only liable for breaches of essential contractual obligations on whose fulfilment you may rely, limited to the foreseeable damage typical for the contract.
Etappe7 supports learning; we give no guarantee for grades or learning success.
§ 12 Changes to prices and terms
We only change prices and these terms for coming school years. For a school year already purchased, the price and terms at the time of purchase apply. You see changes before every purchase; we point them out in the reminder before the new school year.
§ 13 Data protection
How we handle personal data is set out in the Etappe7 privacy policy. We only process what is needed for learning – without ads and without tracking.
§ 14 Right of withdrawal
As a consumer, you have a right of withdrawal. Details are set out in the cancellation policy.
§ 15 Dispute resolution and final provisions
We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
German law applies. Mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country in which you have your habitual residence remain unaffected.
The German version of these terms is legally binding.
